Course Descriptiona. Practical skills learnt will be undertake Safe Manual Handling and deliver Personal Care to clients through practical workshops using simulation and role playing. The practical workshops consist of using lifters, slings, electric beds, wheelchairs, walking frames, feeding aids etc. The theory component is delivered through role plays, questioning, case studies, quizzes, online learning (research) etc. b. Students will need good interpersonal skills, a caring nature and be able to use their initiative, will need to work with others or in teams, as well as on your own. c. Units will be assessed in the classroom through the theory and practical learning and whilst on the work placement. The student will receive a workbook for completion for each unit studied. The student will be required to complete a Log Book whilst on placement, this placement is compulsory and the logbook consists of timesheets to record hours, a reflective journal and various tasks to be undertaken. These tasks will be verified in the workplace by Workplace Mentors and assessed in the workplace by an ATEC Assessor d. Students will be required to wear the “ATEC Student” work shirt whilst on placement. Students are to ensure they wear suitable closed in shoes for all practical sessions and for the placement

Entry RequirementsNil prerequisites except as per TGSS eligibility.
Other RequirementsStudents required to bring a pen to every session and are required to pay for their own National Police Clearance which is required for the vocational placement (ATEC will supply internet address for this)

Course will be delivered over 3 Semesters.
Work Placement20 days
Work Placement 20 days 140 Hours (approximately 20 days) The qualification requires compulsory work placement and this is in addition to the training sessions. It may be done during the school holidays. Students are required to wear an ATEC student logo work shirt during work placement.

TGSS – Nil cost per student, if ineligible for TGSS cost is $2,500.00 per student.

If eligibility changes during Semester A then TGSS can be offered to eligible students. Ability to offer TGSS to appropriate students in Semester B.

Some employers require RAN training. Responsibility for this cost belongs to the student’s home school.
Cost NotesDepartment for Education Non-NASSSA students enrolling will incur a $250.00 additional Administration fee (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses). Non-Department for Education students enrolling will incur a $1,000.00 administration fee. (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses) Enrolments for both these groups of students MUST be done through the WebVET Administrator.
