Northern Adelaide State Secondary Schools Alliance
NASSSA Overview

The Northern Adelaide State Secondary Schools Alliance (NASSSA) was formed to maximise the learning opportunities, career pathways and educational outcomes for all students in the Northern Adelaide Region, based on the belief that collaboration, combining resources and mobilising community support across all schools, is more likely to achieve this goal than operating as individual schools.

The alliance seeks innovation in education, is a key link to industry partners and has a focus on student transitions to employment, training and further education.

NASSSA schools have collaborated on a range of projects and pilot programmes such as Redesigning Pedagogy in the North, Senior Schools Literacy project, shared professional development and common pupil free days and developed programmes across school sites to expand Regional VET Pathways. Participating schools have pooled financial resources to employ a NASSSA Manager to support the work of the alliance.

Principals meet approximately 12 times each year for 3 hours. Two or three of these meetings are for a full day.

The current work of the NASSSA federation of schools is focused around the following: Implementation of the State Government Trade Schools for the Future initiative, implementation of the Federal Government Trade Training Centre initiative, Future SACE, ICAN, Industry Pathway Programs, Regional VET Pathways, UniSA initiatives (Practicums, First Generation Programme, Portfolio Entrance), Industry Sills Program implementation, Middle School Career Development, Staffing of our schools and Communication (Publicity and Promotions).
