Course Description | This qualification provides skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technologies (ICT), technical functions and the ability to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced ICT user. The competencies include techniques in installing and configuring hardware and operating systems, supporting users by troubleshooting software, hardware and peripheral faults, configuring, troubleshooting and administering networks, application software, introductory programming techniques and basic website development. A person with these competencies would have skills in working effectively in an ICT environment and knowledge of critical, creative thinking skills, privacy policies and communicating with clients. Students will be assessed with a number of short questions, individual and group activities and project work. |
Pathways | The course is developed for entry to employment, apprenticeship or further education. Possible pathways include: IT Support Technician, Client Support Officer, Help Desk Officer and Customer Service Representative ie: employed at a computer store. |
Entry Requirements | Recommended completion of Certificate II. Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential - to a Year 11 level.
Regular attendance in class and ability to complete work on time is essential.
To meet the requirements of the VETRO application, students must demonstrate prior career planning evidence. For example, work experience and hear from the trainer sessions, discussion with Career/Guidance Counsellors, identification of Career Path through subject selections discussions.
All students need to complete the minimum standard LLN (Language, literacy and numeracy) assessment requirements for this program as outlined in the VETRO process. |
Other Requirements | Regular attendance in class and ability to complete work on time is essential.
If unable to attend students must be prepared to complete work at home or after hours to meet due dates. They must negotiate alternative submission dates as per RTO requirement, where they cannot meet due dates.
Students should bring pens, pencils and paper.

Delivery Location(s) | Mark Oliphant College B-12, 99 Douglas Drive, MUNNO PARA, SA, 5115 Gawler Central train, stop Munno Para, short walk or train to Smithfield Station then bus at zone A to stop. |
Dates and Times | 36 weekly sessions at Mark Oliphant College B-12 on Tuesdays from 08:50 until 15:10. Commencement date 07/02/23. All courses will be finished by week 6, Term 4 (week beginning 20 November) and exclude school holiday breaks. Training does not take place on public holidays.

Training Cost | $900.00 including GST $900 is the 'gap' fee. This course is a Flexible Industry Pathway subsidised by the Department for Innovation and Skills.
The training cost of $900 includes training delivery and materials. |

Cost Notes | Department for Education Non-NASSSA students enrolling will incur a $50.00 additional Administration fee (full year course -pro rata for semester/term courses). Non-Department for Education students enrolling will incur a $250.00 administration fee (full year course -pro rata for semester/term courses). This will provide the home school VET Leader access to WebVET. Enrolments for both these groups of students MUST be done through the WebVET Administrator. Host school will invoice home school of non-NASSSA school students who participate. |

Orientation Details | Course orientation and induction occurs during the first training session by the trainer with host school VET Leader support.
All home schools are required to conduct WorkPRO (or similar) prior to students commencing a course. |
