Course Description | Certificate II in Construction Pathways (CPC20220) will provide a pathway to the primary trades in the construction industry with the exception of plumbing. Trade outcomes are predominantly achieved through an Australian Apprenticeship and this Certificate II allows for inclusion of skills suited for entry to off-site occupations such as joinery and shopfitting as well as carpentry, bricklaying and other occupations in general construction. |
Pathways | Possible pathways include: Bricklayer, Cabinet Maker, Carpenter, Concreter, Painter and Decorator, Plasterer, Scaffolder, Shop Fitter, Stone Mason and Tiler. |
Entry Requirements | Basic literacy and numeracy is essential. To meet the requirements of the VETRO application, students must demonstrate prior career planning evidence: for example, work experience. Regular attendance in class and ability to manage time is essential. |

Students must have the following Protective Equipment that students must organise themselves including: Long sleeve high visibility shirt, long pants, Steel capped boots, Clear safety glasses. |

Dates and Times | 35 weekly sessions at TAFE SA Elizabeth on Tuesdays from 08:30 until 15:30. Commencement date 06/02/24. We anticipate there will be additional classes on Wednesday and Thursday. Students are not to leave site without approval. All classes for the year will be finished by week 5, Term 4, (beginning 13th November). This course does not run during School or Public Holidays. Students are required to attend on student free days unless advised otherwise. |

SACE Details | SACE Stage 1, 50 SACE credits 358 Nominal Hours. Credit granted to the student is dependant on the units of competency completed by the student toward the qualification. |

Training Cost | $215.00 including GST $215.00 including GST is the ‘gap’ course fee. This course is a Flexible Industry Pathway subsidised by the Department for Innovation and Skills.
The training cost of $238.80 includes construction materials, text/work books, access to learn platform and assessment. |
Other Costs | $100.00 including GST If White Card required there is a $140 fee $100 per student for textbook In addition, students will be required to provide their own PPE including steel capped boots, long sleeved high visibility shirt, workwear drill trousers and clear safety glasses so they are ready for the workshop learning environment. Department for Education Non-NASSSA students enrolling will incur a $50.00 additional Administration fee (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses). Non-Department for Education students enrolling will incur a $250.00 administration fee. (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses). This will provide the home school VET Leader access to WebVET. Enrolments for both these groups of students MUST be done through the WebVET Administrator. |

Selection Process | VETRO assessment will be conducted:
* week beginning 23 October 2023 (Term 4 Week 2),
* Online at home school as per the home schools booking with TAFE SA VETRO team. TAFE online booking form to book.
* All assessments including rebooking must be completed by Friday Term 4 Week 5 (Nov 17) |
Orientation Details | Course orientation and induction occurs during the first training session by the trainer with host school VET Leader support. All home schools are required to conduct WorkPRO prior to students commencing the course |
Public Transport | Training is located in Elizabeth and is walking distance from Elizabeth Shopping Centre and the Elizabeth train stations. |
