Course Length2 Semesters (1 year)
Course DescriptionThe Certificate III in Visual Arts is a highly practical program that encourages all students to explore and develop a range of creative and conceptual skills that are fundamental to a number of creative careers. Practice at this level is underpinned by an introduction to art theory and history. Our program encourages the development of this understanding through many practical and observational techniques, enabling the student to learn and make sense of history and theory through making, observing and discussing. Students are encouraged to think creatively, understand the value of curiosity, present new ideas, develop skills in working with colour, and develop and practice both analogue and digital modes for producing artworks. Students will also keep journals that record their idea development, research and documentation of the production of their own artworks.
PathwaysThis qualification enables learners to use a range of skills and techniques to produce art and craft works. It is an introductory level program that provides an entry point into further studies in the visual arts. Further opportunities may exist in related industries such as graphic design, CGI, game art, and screen and media. The Certificate III in Visual Arts meets the course admission requirement for the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), a dual-award program delivered by Flinders University and Adelaide College of the Arts, TAFE SA.
