Course DescriptionThe Plumbing Industry has had a long history as one of the traditional trades areas. There are a number of well recognised areas of engagement: • Domestic • Commercial• Retail. Since plumbing is integrally linked with the Building and Construction Industry, there is a continuous demand for qualified Plumbers and associated Apprenticeship opportunities for young people. Completing this certificate can lead onto other areas of the Building and Construction Industry. Students will need to demonstrate their skills on and off site, completing both theory and practical components. Students will be involved in many activities including visits to worksites and working with new materials.
PathwaysThis can lead onto specialised areas including; general plumbing, gas fitting, roof plumbing, irrigation & retail. Other construction industry areas may also be pursued.
Entry RequirementsNo Prerequisites. Basic Numeracy and Literacy skills will be beneficial.
Other RequirementsStudents are required to bring an exercise book and pens and pencils. Students must be willing to undertake both theory and practical components of the course.

Dates and Times33 weekly sessions at Paralowie R-12 School on Tuesdays from 09:00 until 15:00.

Commencement date Tuesday 2nd February 2021 includes an orientation session.
Work Placement15 days
15 days (120 hours) of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placement is an additional requirement of this course. Home schools will be required to monitor and document these work placements.

Cost NotesDepartment for Education Non-NASSSA students enrolling will incur a $50.00 additional Administration fee (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses). Non-Department for Education students enrolling will incur a $250.00 administration fee. (Full year course – pro rata for semester/term courses) Enrolments for both these groups of students MUST be done through the WebVET Administrator.
