Course Description | The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is 18 month. This course for students continuing from 2021 only. The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care focuses on building the knowledge and skills needed to effectively provide care for children, plan and provide experiences and support children’s well-being, learning, health and development.
Students will learn about the Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework and how to apply in practice.
This qualification will provide students with the ability to work in a range of Early Childhood Education and Care settings as a Certificate III Educator |
Pathways | On completion of the full 18 months and gaining a full Qualification, students may choose a continuation of study pathway and apply for entry into the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. From the Diploma qualification, the pathway may lead into the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
Enhance Training also provides students with employment opportunities and pathways for childcare jobs within the Hessel Group. |
Entry Requirements | Students should have completed the first 12 months of the qualification, have a minimum satisfactory pass of Year 10 English, and a genuine interest and passion in caring for and educating young children, and a desire to work in the Early Childhood sector. |
Other Requirements | Students are expected to provide all stationery needs – pen/paper as well as be open to sending assessments electronically. Assessments to be completed outside of class room time and submitted by the due date.
Schools to arrange, pay for and provide the DHS clearance to Enhance prior to placement. Students need to be aware due to COVID vaccination maybe required prior to further placements.
Students to attend all weekly classes and must be able to complete a minimum of 120 hours work placement in a Child care centre. |
Dates and Times | 24 weekly sessions at Craigmore High School on Thursdays from 09:00 until 15:10. Commencement date 03/02/22. Face to face classes on 3rd February, 3 March, 5th May, 2nd June, 23rd June. In-class Practical activities on 24th and 31 March, 7th April,, 26th May, and 14th, 21st and 28th July. Remaining sessions will be online and student should attend their home school.
Students who are absent from classes will be required to complete the missed work/unit externally

Work Placement | 6 days 40 hours per semester.
A minimum 120 practical placement hours (20 days) as per qualification requirements.
Work Placement will be facilitated in block placements during school holidays which will be outlined on the course timetable. Prior to work placement commencing, a placement orientation presentation will be facilitated to all students detailing work placement duties, required documents and professional behaviour and etiquette.
Site visits to centre and a Presentations from Employers (including Early childhood educators)) may be organised
Participants will be mentored through the placement by the workplace supervisor and trainer will visit throughout
Enhance to source and allocate placements for students.
DHS clearance required before placement can commence.

SACE Details | SACE Stage 2, 30 SACE credits An additional 30 Stage 2 SACE credits (250 nominal hours) can be attained in this last 6 months of the qualification.
With successful completion of the full 18 month certificate a maximum of 115 Stage 2 credits can be achieve. This requires completion of all work placement hours
Credits granted to the student is dependant on the units of competency completed by the student toward the qualification

Orientation Details | Course orientation and induction occurs during the first training session by the trainer with host school VET Leader support.
All home schools are required to conduct WorkPRO (or similar) prior to students commencing a work placement. |
