If you have a genuine desire to care for and be of service to the elderly or people with a disability, we encourage you to investigate the benefits of working in this rewarding field. The course will consist of a combination of theoretical, simulation and work placement. The simulation sessions consist of practicing skills in person centred care, inclusive of bed making, showering, toileting, assistance with lifting machines and manual handling, incontinence aids, brushing teeth, grooming, and infection control. Theoretical components are delivered through short answer questions, research presentations, quizzes, online certificates, group work, case studies, scenarios and reflective activities. Units will be assessed in the classroom through the theory and practical learning and whilst on the work placement. The student will be required to complete a Placement Logbook whilst on placement, this placement is compulsory and the logbook consists of timesheets to record hours, a reflective journal and various tasks to be undertaken. These tasks will be verified in the workplace by Workplace Mentors and assessed in the simulated environment by an ANMEC Educator. |
